Welcome to Reading Car Company

Reading Car Company is based on the Southeast side of Reading, PA and is a builder and manufacturer of freight cars and accessories in 1:8 (1.5”=1’) scale. We pride ourselves on building cars that go beyond customers’ expectations. The quality of our builds is very important to us as we believe the size of these models should allow more attention to detail while keeping the models robust and able to stand up to the rigors of even the roughest outdoor railroad.

Currently, we assemble kits produced by other manufacturers such as Sprayberry Hopper, Titan Trains and Precision Steel Car. We also refurbish older equipment from all manufacturers. Along with our primary focus, we also are happy to build steel frames and other fabrication for people who are not able to weld their own items. Finally, we’re happy to talk with you about your interest in a custom build of a car not currently produced on the mass market.
